If not, give it a year and re-evaluate.
I would go for a nice veeeeeerrryyyyy light transluscent brown or a peachy tan so you can see all the lovely wood grain. Clearcoat optional.
I am with you on this one, Michael. The exception would be that instruments are sometimes finished in Jetglo because their grain may not be the best for a natural finish.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

There's refins and then there's refins. if your considering the caliber of someone like Larry Davis or Paul Wilczinski, go for it. Top notch work.

Its your bass, and it looks really good on you as well.

FWIW, my 1982 4080 JG (with 'standard' white trim) weighs 15.15 lbs.

And don't forget the counter-weight on your back, Gary.

Yep. Same here. 15 lbs on a bathroom scale.

I sent the bass to Larry Davis (https://www.davisguitarworks.com/ for some TLC. It took a while to get on his calendar but once started he was a pleasure to work with. He re-fretted both necks, replaced the binding, replaced the Grover wavy tuners, and refinished it. It looks fantastic and I am extremely happy with the results.

Wow I was about to reply and say NO don't do it!
I was going to say wear the scars and mojo with pride.

But I see you did, and he did a great job, looks like new.

Congrats and have fun playing that monster, I can't look at it without thinking of Geddy.

Wow, it turned out great! That's another model I wish Rickenbacker would reissue.
