It’s true! There were posts by rickenbacker official all over Facebook and Instagram this morning about them for the 90th anniversary. From my perspective they really nailed it on these.

I guess it wont matter for me, I have a daughter getting married......so much for my extra cash for a while. :?

Nice looking pair though. John always said the 4005 was a hard sell, it will be interesting to see how the new 4005 does in 2021.

That's the biggest detail to me. Maybe we are officially anoraks?

SO cool to see crushed pearl inlays return for the first time in 48 years.

Both of these are great, though I especially love the bass. The bass is a short scale (30" ?) so it's extremely comfortable to play (possibly because I'm a guitarist), and super fun. Surprisingly loud unplugged as well. The proportions are just right on the bass, since it's not a full scale instrument.

Looking forward to seeing the MSRP on these, and seeing if I can swing it.

These are a total 'role reversal' i.e... you have the "guitar with a bass body" and the "bass with a guitar body." Fun stuff :D

One smart design decision is to use the old style tailpiece instead of the exploding R. And personally, I also find it prettier.

that bass is going to ruin me. Seriously, really cool stuff that people have been asking for for decades. Can't wait to not be able to afford one, but....

So, is the bass a short scale with a smaller body?

Standard 360 (old style) body with an enlarged neck pocket to accept the bass neck. 30.5" scale.

$5k+

I wonder if this is going to be more accessible after the "pre-order" stage. Somehow, I doubt that.

Also available in Jetglo(!)
