vintage 4001 case question

Post by RobLewis »

I have a vintage RIC case I keep my '79 in that has the Rickenbacker logo on the top, does anyone know what years the cases were available? Most every other vintage case I've seen doesn't have the logo on the lid. Thanks

I’m interested too. My ‘72 4001 has what I assume it to be the original case. Blue interior, no case logo.
But... It has to be one of the most ill fitting cases I own. The bass swims in it. Maybe it’s for the 4005...I dunno.
You can’t get here from there.

That might be the case! (pun fully intended!)

The easiest way to tell would the the width. A 4005 case is a few inches wider than a 4001 case, I don't recall the numbers off the top of my head.

The '79 4001 that I special ordered back then did NOT have a Ric logo on it.

I suppose the store that ordered it for me could have substituted the case, but I doubt it, it was a perfect fit.
