Real, or possible a PW/DF creation?

Maybe, a Mike Lull creation? John Fay has/had a 4000 recreation, made by Mike, with a with nicely flamed maple body that has a similar finish on it.

That photo of the F-series guitar looks like a post-mortem!

Fantastic top, I bet that's a custom body.

Looks like a 4000 neck right?

Whoever did it, did a great job, it doesn't at all look like a parts build.

It has to be fairly recent as the body binding is all way too fresh white to be any kind of vintage body.

The biggest question would be how does it feel and sound?

Not a real Rickenbacker.

This was built from scratch, such an instrument never existed in the original F-model era(s).

Looking at that photo reminded me of this, the one that Mike Lull built years ago.

I'd guess it isn't Ric. Perhaps ask the guys on the rickenfakers facebook group?

This isn't simple a fake, it is very well built interpretation.

Nice looking bass. I wish I had that kind of talent.

I'd like to see better pictures of the headstock., Cant really tell if it has a paddle headstock or the cresting wave.

It would be even better with a “R” tailpiece.
