When I was a kid I thought the line from Led Zeppelins Stairway to Heaven was "and there's a wino down the road"

I havent read this whole thread, so forgive me if this one has already been tossed out..

but years back there was a comedian who's whole act was based on this topic. The one that had me in stitches was Steve Miller's "Jet Airliner".

Instead of "big ol jet airliner" substitute "bingo jet had a light on". :D

To this day thats what my wife and I hear everytime I hear that song., and I still chuckle..... :D

Hi,
Well, considering that it was Steve, it may have been the 'bingo jet' version. He WAS the space cowboy, after all, inventing words as he went. Tom
It's a Byrd, it's a playin'..........

And let's not forget whoever did that bang up version of AC/DCs "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". The first time I heard that I was setting up in a club, and all of the sudden I hear "Dirty Deeds Done With Sheep!"    Priceless!

This isn't exactly on topic but should be close enough for fun. A friend of mine was telling someone she really loved Paradise By The Dashboard Lights. He said he'd never heard of a band called "The Dashboard Lights".

Ever since then I've wanted to use that as a band name. ;)

These certainly were good for a laugh! I remember being victim to several of those posted.

"Sweet Home Dali Lama!
That's what my daughter thought her toy guitar was saying!!"

Here's one I heard from a co-worker:
You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille, with eight hundred children and a crop in the field.
Obviously Lucille must have been some sort of insect.

Another one:

I always thought one of the lyric lines in X's "The Hungry Wolf" was "I see the young become foolish, outrun and kill the strong" but it's "I see the gutter feed on the foolish, outrun and kill the strong."

Oops.
There is no reason to ever be bored.

...why yes, I suppose I do have a double bound guitar fetish...

"Uh, I like the double bounds. . . ."

Manfred Mann's version of the Springsteen song "Blinded by the Light" still sounds like he sings "wrapped up like a douche" instead of "revved up like a deuce".
Even Springsteen said so.

I do the same thing!

Besides the number of Stones songs I've butchered, here's one I remembered when I started listening to the Bangles

The Bangles, Eternal Flame:
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?

I believe it's meant to be, darling
I watch when you are sleeping, you belong to me
Do you feel the same, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

Say my name, sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

The way I thought it was:
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating, do you understand?
Do you feel insane, am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?

I believe it's meant to be, darling
I want you when you are sleeping, you belong with me
Do you feel insane, am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame?

Say my name, sun shine through the rain
Oho life so lonely, and then come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling

"Do you feel insane" is really cool, Jake. Love it. That's the way i'm gonna sing it in the future, yeah.
And btw, up to this day i also thought it was something like, "oh-oh, life's so lonely". Thanks for correction. And "say my name, sunshine through the rain", although it's not much different from what it really is.
Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
