THE IRON DOOR

Post by royclough »

I know there is a Iron Door forum on these boards but little activity for some months now, hope Geoff Hogarth is OK.

A few years back 2004 Geoof kindly sent me this for which I was very grateful and I resisted temptation to post anywhere as I wasn't sure if DVD was to be sold.

I doubt it is now commercially available so felt appropiate to share., some may enjoy it.

Wonderful history Roy, thanks for putting both this and the British Invasion show up.

The event we promoted at the Liverpool Olympia West Derby Road was one of the first of four charity revival shows for the 'Iron Door' club; there was a terrific atmosphere in the theatre created by the musicians on stage and the audience!
Two film crews were engaged to film the event, one filmed the interviews the other the crowd scenes, the sound quality on the dance and band sets became distorted.
We were advised that we might infringe some copyright laws if we commercialised the DvD consequently the presentation was not widely distributed. I had almost forgotten the existence of the film until Roy's surprise posting. The film gives a glimpse of the Liverpool rock scene of the 60s, with some wonderful interviews from all the musicians and promoters.

A wonderful video. More Iron Door Club stories on the horizon for posting on the Iron Door Club Forum. Where does the time go?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Further to my contribution to the Iron Door film; the Liverpool Olympia's sound equipment is non existent, promoters have to hire private contractors to supply and operate the sound system.
On this occasion Mike Pender agreed to bring in his expensive portable sound equipment along with his son be responsible for setting up and operate all night!

Thanks Geoof and MP's son's played drums on his dad's set too. In fact he is now the drummer in Mike Pender's Searchers when they do play gigs which are few and far between these days.

Yes indeed Roy, he is a terrific drummer who lays it down for the whole band, you can see him in action on his drums at the beginning of the film. May I offer my sincere thanks and appreciation for your time and effort and the sympathetic way you have prepared and edited the film for all members of the forum to view and hopefully pass comments on!
