1937 Model 59 Rickenbacher LapSteel Volume Pot ID

Post by PamiSueBaru »

What is the ohm resistance rating in the Centralab volume pot of a 1937 Model 59 Rickenbacher Lap steel. Where can I find an identical, working, vintage Centralab volume pot for a replacement? Where can I find a contemporary volume pot that would serve just as well and have the same tone. Thanks for your help.

I’m researching the same issue. I think it’s 100k, but I’m trying to verify that

I have a '37 Model 59. Is there a way I can identify it for you without desoldering anything?

Because of the way it's wired, Jason, no you can't measure it in circuit: the pickup would load it down. According to this schematic, it should be a 500k audio taper pot. Any decent quality carbon track pot should suffice as a replacement.
