Testing 360 Treble PU?
Hi, new guy here! Hoping you can help out a fellow Rickenbacker lover!
I have two 360s - one is a 6 string and the other is a 12.
The 6, purchased in 1987, is too trebly through both amps where the 12, purchased in 2000, is perfect!
Is this normal, anyone else notice this? I would have thought that the 12 string would be brighter.
Is there a way to test the treble pu to see if it needs to be fixed/replaced?
Thanks!
Brian

Welcome, Brian!
Is the sound consistent regardless of which pickup you use?

Thanks for the reply Jeff - by "sound" do you mean tone or volume? The tone varies as you change from one pickup to the next, but the volume pretty consistent.

Have you tried adjusting the pickup's height? The Hi Gains from '87 are pretty hot. See if lowering them makes much of a difference.

Those '80s pickups are hot and bright as all get-out. Are they the epoxy-coated ones or the ones where you can actually see the pinpoint pattern of the breadboard on the bobbins? These things siiiiiiiing. I personally love 'em.

Thanks for all the help! Sorry for delay - whole family was sick + holidays.

Thanks again for your help!
I think the PU was too high - some got shaved off by the strings. I think lowering them helped.Clint wrote:Have you tried adjusting the pickup's height? The Hi Gains from '87 are pretty hot. See if lowering them makes much of a difference.
I don't know which they are, what are the differences between the two? Here is a picture:belloff wrote:Those '80s pickups are hot and bright as all get-out.
