The Remo Four Recording

Post by hamilton_square »

Sometime during 1961, The Remo Four recorded four instrumental tracks after a gig inside an empty Iron Door Club using an acquaintance’s Grundig reel-to-reel tape recorder. Indeed, an event that Rickresource Admin Peter McCormack makes reference to elsewhere on this site - at “Liverpool Musicians At 13 Temple Street” -

The Remo Four’s drummer at the time was one Harry Prytherch, who has become quite well-known as a guest speaker on Liverpool’s Merseybeat nostalgia circuit. During an hour long Q&A interview that took place a while back at New Brighton’s Fort Perch Rock venue, Harry Prytherch was asked about that 1961 recording made on the downstairs stage of an empty Iron Door Club.

On You Tube in five parts; I’ve put the uploaded interview into a playlist that can be viewed at …

It’s not until 10m:50s into the Part 2 segment that Harry Prytherch is asked about the Iron Door recording. Unfortunately, the following Part 3 clip is unwatchable after 01m:50s due to a breakdown in the picture-sound quality of the recording – pity that. However, there are no faults when watching the remaining Parts 4 and 5.
