A Star Club Night at the Iron Door.
Peter (Hamilton Square) Posted an excellent article of the exchange of German bands at the Iron Door and the Star Club on the Iron Door forum.

Geoff; when listening to the likes of Teddy ‘Kingsize’ Taylor and the late Sam Leach there’s no mistaking where they hail from. As soon as they open their mouths to speak I can hear the sound of the River Mersey flowing. Indeed, while I myself have been living in this part of South-East England for near 30 years, which is some 200 miles and a world away from Liverpool, I could never completely shake-off my Merseyside speech patterns. I learnt over the years to moderate my vowel sounds when working and mixing with the southern English. However, whenever intakes of alcohol were involved then the Mersey would start flowing again when opening my mouth to speak. In terms of statistical mathematics (which played a major part in what I did for a living) this is known as ‘regression to the mean’ being in my case, the inherent tendency to revert back on occasions to one’s formative years.

The reason why I mention this is when I listen to you speaking for an extended length of time – for example; at the start of the above You Tube insert – I can still hear echoes of the West Riding of Yorkshire where I understand you initially hailed from before landing in Liverpool some 60 years ago. One never really does lose that part of oneself that was formed during the opening couple of decades of a life.

Back in the mists of time the ancient English shire / county of Yorkshire was sub-divided into three administrative regions (North, West and East) known to one and all as 'The Yorkshire Ridings'

Whilst reading your post Peter the thought crossed my mind ...' I wonder if Peter has ever been barred from any casinos.
