Rose Morris 1994

Post by casinoman »

I realized there have been models 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999. Has there ever been a model 1994, and if not, was that number left out to leave space for an additional model never offered?

How about the 3261 (the export version of the 4005 bass) and the 3262 (the export version of the convertible 6/12 string)?

As the numbers were Rose Morris numbers, and not Rickenbacker numbers, the 1994 could've been a capo, or tambourine or something.

Yeah the entire inventory (even non-Ric) was catalogued using four digits, chances are it was designated to another item the same day as the Ric items. As for what it was... Your guess is as good as mine. Anybody with a complete period
RM catalog could easily tell you though.

The catalog would have to date from '64-'67. I doubt any information would come around on it.

Here's what I believe about RoMo:
While proven to be extremely popular, and today the rarest, oddest and most sought after Ric 12-string, in late '65/early '66, the 1993 was starting to see it's final years.
The 1996 was made throughout '64, as I have yet to see a '65 1996 and Lennon only used it in December '64.
The 1995 was not that popular, and my bet is only a few were exported.
The 1997, 1998 and 1999 were extremely popular, and while the 1998 and 1999 both ceased production in '67, some examples of original 1997's can be seen as late as July '69. All three are sought after and talked about. A few threads on the 1999 alone have created big discussions.

For originals, currently owned by our members, among the crowd is:
Graham Griffiths - THREE 1993 12-strings (lucky!!)
Collin Whitley and Darren Trott - 1998 (Collin's is from '64, Trotty's is from '65)
Ron O'Keefe - 1993 (from '65), the 1997 and 1998 (both from '66) and the 1995 (from '64)
Andy Winter - three 1999's (two from '64, one of which was formerly owned by Maurice Gibb, and one from '67, which he claims needs work)

Reissue wise, only the 1997 has been a standard production model. The 1998 was released as the 1998 PT (Pete Townshend limited edition) and the 1997SPC (a special order model, described as a 1997 with an extra pickup). The 1993 was a custom order for a manager of a Sam Ash Music store, and two of our members own two examples of these insanely rare reissues (Frank Maiale and Alan Sciarrillo). Variations of the 1993 were ordered in 1994 for Norman's Rare Guitars, one of which is owned by John Minutaglio, with gold pickguards, TRC and hardware, and an usual bound dot neck.

Guys! That's your cue, post your pics!

We've all seen the RoMos. Post pics of your pre '62 pedal steels, your '59 4000 8 strings, your '64 360f/12s, your non-reissue 5002s, your el torros, your combos with vibrolas, your double cut F bodies, your 330s with transposing trems......post your one offs!!!!!
