Thanks, all!

I did a quick check of the various finishes I have; here are the ones I have more than two of:

Burgundy - 5
Fireglo - 13
Jetglo - 12
Mapleglo - 3
Turquoise - 3
White - 3

Of these, the Fireglos will be the most interesting, as they span quite a range in time (1966-2002).

Great pics, Gary! I tend to be most attracted by the strong red and black combination of your 4003 SPC Redneck.

Gary, you didn't put any reds in the chili the other day, did ya?
I wish I could have had some, maybe next time. :(
The JETGLO finish name should be officially changed to JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

...a fine collection and cool pics, but now I'm back windering if me 330 is Red or Ruby......my head hurts.

Travis, I still think yours is Ruby. Red has no hint of metallic or pearlesence to it at all, and Red always looks the same - no variation, just fire-engine red. Ruby seemed to go from bright to a more Burgundy hue, but still slightly metallic.

I agree with Paul.

I'll see whether I can take a picture of a Ruby back-to-back with a Red in the sun ... I think it might show distinctly the sparkle vs. non-sparkle aspects of the two finishes.

These beautiful reds make me green. But I always cringe when I see Rickenbackers posed near water!

Very nice Gary. If you do take the FGs, arrange them in chronological order. Would be very interesting.

Paul, I see where you are coming from but I can't see anything vaguely metallic about it, mind you me eyes aren't the best

The thing with Ruby is that the metallic (in most cases) is underneath the translucent red and it shows more in highly specular reflections -- a bright light will seem to reflect more light at certain angles (aside from the obvious reflection off of the surface). This is kinda hard to describe; more of a "know it when you see it" kind of thing. Midnight blue will do this as well. It looks like dark blue in most light angles, then suddenly, when the angle is right, it flares bright blue. That's the whole idea behind metallic automotive colors -- they rely on the metallic bits to keep the colors appearing bright rather than on pigments.

Gary, I agree with Joey, that 4000FL is the bomb. Mark
