Hinge pin replacement?

Post by T Bone »

Hi guys, my first post here. Just picked up my first Rickenbacker, a 2000 360/12. Great guitar with a couple minor issues, but right now addressing a missing hinge pin on the case.

Does anyone know if replacement pins are available? If not specific, what material are they (looks like possibly aluminum? )? I've seen various fixes online using nails etc, but thought it'd be best to get a proper pin if available.

Try a luggage repair shop.

Contact SKB directly, assuming you have the plastic black case.

Thanks, I may end up going that route. Would rather a DIY fix if I can get a suitable part though.

Thank you, I didn't realize these cases were made by SKB. Will contact them.

So as Collin suggested, I contacted SKB directly. If you do the same, suggest email, as I tried via phone for several days. Finally talked to another department, they suggested I send an email and include a picture. When I did that, got a reply very quickly saying they would see if parts were in stock. A few days later, I found a shipping notice from Fed Ex. Box arrived today with two hinge pins. This on a 2nd hand 20 year old guitar, never asked for a dime from me. THIS is what I'd call superb customer service. Well done SKB!

Fantastic!

Glad that worked out, I knew SKB had pretty good customer service but that's above and beyond (once you finally get through to them).
