First shown on British television towards the end of December 1963, Beat City is now generally considered to be the leading filmed documentary made of the Liverpool music and club scene of the early 1960s. Indeed, the documentary has become of some importance to both British popular music buffs and sociocultural historians alike. For those wishing to delve a bit deeper I’ve included an analysis of the documentary authored by a one-time academic at Liverpool University.

The digital copy appears to have been lifted from a VHS tape so the black & white picture quality is not that sharp.
Also note, for some reason, the sound is absent for the opening 85 seconds of the recording.
