I had a couple Mobile Fidelity LPs years ago. Also, they used half speed mastering with CD-4 quadraphonic records.

Quad was such a disaster with all the competing formats. I think the powers that be actually learned from that when Sony and Philips were developing the CD format.

Any thread which mentions the return of vinyl in this age should absolutely at least mention Jack White's Third Man Records, which is at least partially responsible for the recent resurgence of vinyl:

With LPs coming back, maybe my kids will finally understand what I mean when I say "he/she sounds like a scratched record"....
