HiFi tube amp and homebrew guitar preamp

Post by Tube_Fan »

For guitar amplification, I've been mainly using a Seeburg model HFA1-L6 tube amp (6L6/5881 push-pull output) with a home brew Fender style tube preamp with spring reverb and paper cone speakers in an oak cabinet.

My latest stereo set up in my living room includes a McIntosh MC75 (in front) and an MC30. You can see two tubed Heathkit preamps on the right in the picture, too.

You're probably the only member here that would appreciate this:

Bozak 302-Grille Removed-1200_1579.jpg
It has been in our fireplace since the early '60s and used daily at high volumes by Shari's dad through the early '70s when he got bit by the stereo bug, finally!

Once we are finished with our living room renovation I will connect it to the old, original KLH table radio we still have (her dad's, too), and still use to this day, to see if the Bozak still works okay.

That looks like its designed as a back loaded horn or some kind of open back speaker. I'm using two back loaded horn speakers for bass and two Altec Lansing 811b horns for midrange and treble.

We have never pulled the speaker out of the fire box, but after removing the bluestone mantel and clearing out lots of rocks, broken bricks, a marble, a drum stick, a 4 of Hearts playing card, and several long dead birds (!!!!!) I think the cabinet is just a mounted baffle, utilizing the firebox as the rest of the cabinet. I am reluctant to remove the baffle, fearing what else may be behind it!

What is a Hookah Bar Like?

I found a brass hookah or water pipe in a thrift store years ago. I tried smoking some non-tobacco smoking mixture from an herb shop in it to see what at it was like, but haven't used it in years.
