DIY Pedalboard Finished

Post by jimk »

I thought it deserved its own thread.
Materials used:
  • IKEA Gorm shelving parts (thanks Todd)
    2 lag bolts
    1 doz. #8 X 1¼ wood screws (because that's what I had on hand.)
    black rattle can paint
    Velcro.
This isn't by any stretch of the imagination quality finish cabinetry. It looks like it ought to work out just fine. The side rails I cut to 16" long. The headboard I cut so as to use the factory drilled holes for the lag bolts. I had to enlarge these holes just a bit. Holes were already in place at the head end of the side rails.

In the final photo I have my pedals mounted for display purposes. They are from top to bottom, left to right; Jangle Box JB-2, power strip mounted to the headboard, Rick-O-Sound junction box, Jangle Box JB-1; direct box for my fiddle; MXR Carbon Copy, MXR Micro Chorus, and MXR Micro Flanger.

I wonder how different this board would look had I not given you the Rick-O-Sound box...

Very nice, Jim. I've often thought about making my own pedal board, but I don't use that much to do it. If I'm right, you run the Janglebox 1 to the neck pickup and the Janglebox 2 to the bridge, correct?

Jim --- I like it. Do you have a picture underneath of the power strip mounting ? Did you attach the power strip to the wood with velcro or screws or what ?

Other way 'round; JB-2 to the neck P.U. and JB-1 to the bridge P.U. And by the way, thanks for the Rick-O-Sound box. I really appreciate it. (Is this a great forum, or what?)

Oops.....I knew I had forgotten something.
I finally decided on using Velcro. The 8 X 1¼ wood screws were too large to fit through the mounting holes on the power strip.

Thanks. I plugged it in and fired up the new boxes this evening. Only ran it in mono, though. I think the MXR Micro Chorus and the flanger are going to work out fine.

JIm, wondering if you've made some recordings yet to demo these two different Jangleboxes wired through the Ric-o-sound from the two different pickups ?? We 'd like to hear how this sounds !

Awesome!

Last night I played a show where one of the other bands had a skateboard with the wheels removed and velcro attached for a pedalboard. It was really cool! Forgot to take a pic though :(
