Martin D-16 Rosewood - I got lucky

I acquired this beautiful new dreadnaught last month. I went shopping for one of their laminates but this one called to me from out of the crowd. A few hundred more for all wood, except for the micarta fretboard and bridge. I love the fretboard; it feels smooth as ebony, and it's beautifully bound. But what sold me was, of course, the sound of her. She's so beautifully balanced and clear, not boxy or boomy. This one's a keeper, better than any other in its price range and better than a couple of other Martins at twice the price. Sometimes you get lucky.

The 16 RGT is a great acoustic. They're very reasonably priced, IMO. Yours is a stunner, and you'll likely enjoy it for a long time.

Nice Kira! Congratulations on the new addition to the family.
I absolutely love my Martin. Took me almost 1.5 years of searching to find "the one". Right price and right model. Mine is a 000C-16GTE, and she is my everyday, every moment player. I swear her voice gets more and more beautiful by the day. Enjoy it!!

Hi, Lucky-K. Your Martin is a beaut! Props to you on your recent score. Sometimes the endeavor just comes together seamlessly into one cathartic moment, doesn't it? Thanks for sharing. Best regards.....Goofyfoot.

I liked the triple-oughts but they were way over my limit. I ended up paying $1200 out the door, and I'm still afraid they're going to come to tell me it was a mistake and I have to pay more finally. What a voice she has, and talk about projection! I can hold my own, unamplified, over top of drums and electrics.

Some special tone with the rosewood. I might like to have a maple back acoustic someday too.
They say a specially good instrument chooses you, not the other way around.

Interesting figuring that comes out in some kind of light.

I can't resist one more back shot, in sunlight. Boy, is that binding stark! She can't be more than six months old.
