George's Trapeze
Did you notice in the Rolling Stone special edition the large blowup of George's RIC 12? He had the strings in pairs, but one fed from the bottom, and one from the top. I never tried that. Have you seen it done that way. Neither one of my RIC 12's came that way from the factory.
That was done in an effort to save the other string in the pair from going out of tune should one of them break .
Does it work ...........not really .
Don Adamek has tailpieces that have 12 holes in them already .
I had Bill Meyers drill mine out at the factory in 1974 ,that solved the problem .
See you Saturday Jon ....your guitars play really nice now .

That's exactly the way I have my 330/12 set up: The normal strings coming up thru the bottom and the octave strings going down thru the top of the holes. This is done to facilitate the quick removal of a broken octave string. I figured that the normal or "bass" strings were thicker, ergo: would last longer and would be stronger than the thinner set. I think it actually looks better too. You don't have all those "notty" looking stubby things sticking out everywhere. I don't think it would affect the tone, but it surely helps me yank out a broken string quicker. Just my 2 cents worth. AL A.

Jon: I am not sure that you will find another photo of George using that technique more than once either. Does anyone have the other photos of this stringing method?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Peter: It's a pretty good chance that there won't be very many photos of this unless they are of re-issues, 'cause most Rick-12's after George's had an "R" tailpiece.
I suggest looking at the cover of 'Damn the Torpedoes' to see if Mike Campbell strings his 625/12 in this manner, if the tail piece can be seen in the photo.
