are seymore duncans better than stock ric bass pick ups? some people rave abuot them,i like to use a little parametric e.q. on all my ric basses to get my ''sound '' as well as a 4:1 compression setting.

thats like asking is 'Dreyers' ice cream (vanilla ) better than ... 'Ben and Jerry's'?

they are fine pickups and I have put them in many Ricks.....but they do NOT have the rick tone .

If some one put a gun to my head and asked what pickups would you replace the stock pickups with, and this is only if I had to ....

I'd say Bartolini.

They have great clarity and drop right in with only one mod to the bridge pickup.Imake my own aluminum pickup mounting brackets (this was the original way they were made up to the mid 1970's)and then I put in the stock coil mounting holes and the 2 new ones for the Bartolini.
This gives you several options.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
