Parallell Mono output jacks

Post by rickplayer »

After reading up on all the RIC-O-SOUND literature, I noticed my 36012-v64 has mono out puts. Is it obvious as it sounds that it is parallell and that none of the controls affect the sound IE RIC-O-SOUND splits the pickups? Any cool tricks, or do I just have two holes? (in the guitar)

Good question. I've been wondering about that myself...and when did Ric-O-Sound start, as opposed to dual mono?

I've got a 360/12v64 as well... Yes, the two outputs are "dual mono", meaning they both work as outputs (both with the same signal) and "Ric-O-Sound" splitting does not occur.

I believe Ric-O-S began in late '64 or early '65... the V64's are based on the model as George Harrison received it (in early '64), and apparently they had come up with the "dual" idea and had the jackplates ready, but had not yet begun to install the R-O-S "system" itself.

It doesn't seem that most players care too much about R-O-S, one way or the other (I may be wrong in this; please let us know). It might be cool in certain situations, but never having used it, I have never missed it (..duh, Gene...) Anyway, the unique Rick sound is certainly fully present in the 360/12v64!

My 360/12 CW is yet another that has the "dual mono".

I've hooked one up in R.O.S. before, and it's pretty cool...problem for me is that I'm not in a position to use more than one amp in the clubs I play!
