This is a Hofner Club 50 with the Fuma pick-ups that Lennon bought in the 70's. He started collecting guitars like he had in the early days but obviously couldn't find the correct Club 40. Which is probably a good thing as everyone would think it was the one from the Casbah days! He gave this one to Julian. George also bought a Club 50 around the same time. Guess he couldn't track down the same Club 40 he had as a kid either.

I saw a Club 40 like Georges, with Changed tuners on Ebay last week , round panel, 2 knobs , no scratch plate.Sold
Then a Club 40 black neck & Club 50 now !

Julian has it? Thats good news! He never told me about that!

It's nice to hear Julian got something from John, instead of having to buy it all back...
I heard an interview with him on Stern (for the Photograph Smile album) where he was saying that he was trying to buy up the things he should have gotten from John if Yoko had let him have them. Not to start a Yoko-bashing thread, but that stinks, to me.

Steve, I agree that Julian should have inherited at least one original Beatle guitar. Instead he got the 70's guitars that John bought to represent his past. Maybe down the road Sean and Julian will get it together and they can share the originals equally. At least that's my perfect world.
