77 4001 pickguard

Mark, I have 2 questions for you. One, is the space between the neck pickup and the neck the same on a new 4003 and a 77 4001.And two what color pickguard came on a 77 autumnglo 4001 made for canadian sales, white or black. thanks bf

Since the pickup was moved from the 1/2" from the neck location ...it has been the same.
Except for any Signature/Vintage re-issue where it went back to the old location.

As to what color came stock .......there is a blending period where there were autumn-glo instruments with white guards and nameplates (we thought that they looked funny that way in the assembly/checkout area) and even some with a nameplate in one color and th eguard in another!

It was then co-ordinated in about 1976 with black namplates and guards .I am sure that 1977 also saw some with white .
I don't think this was ever a situation where some one said "They will only have black "
If you are trying to figure out whether yours is "correct" or not .....sorry to say , there is no way to tell.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
