Fast fret is basically a string cleaner ...alcohol.It does not do anything other than clean the strings.It contains no silicone.
Why oil the fretboard? There is NO real reason to oil the fretboard.EVER! Lemon oil gives you a nice scent, and when the naptha evaporates , it goes back to the look it once had.
NEV'R DULL is a tarnish remover that shines frets up and gives a slicker feel.
Is it the finger squeak that bothers you?
or is it the crud from your hands?

Mark, you are correct, it IS a classic case of ..."I'm hooked on Finger -Ease and can't get off it". It makes it easier to slide from one fret to another like in the beginning of "Every Little Thing".
It has NOTHING to do with applying oil to the fretboard (on the 12 string, my fingers barely even touch the fretboard, so no purpose). It has nothing to do with squeak.
But what may be confusing you is that if I put an oil on the strings it will get on my fingers and then small amounts will transfer to the fretboard. So that's why I'm concerned about the compatability of the oil with the fretboard. Again, I would never apply it directly to the fretboard.
I clean my strings after I play. It's just when I start to play on clean, dry strings, sliding from one fret to the next like on the lead to "And Your Bird Can Sing" or "Blue Jay Way"(lots of sliding on both songs)goes much easier with finger ease on the strings.
All it takes is an incredibly minute amount on the strings, and then it's much easier. So if I found a non silicone substitute I would be happy. Maybe glycerin !! How about that lubricant? Is it safe if it accidently gets on the fretboard.
By the way I don't eat alot of red meat and junk food, I'm 51.
