Oh yeah, pick up the album "Chops" with Joe Pass, you won't believe it. 99% of the really great bass players play upright. The jazz guys can blow most of us away and I'm talking famous name electric bass players too. This guy NHOP can play as fast on his bass up high as Joe Pass can play his guitar, he actually outplays him on a lot of parts of the album, he also used all four fingers to pluck his bass.

Sorry so late, just came in on this one...

The "Never Say Die" Rick was a 1973 that belonged to Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple. Geezer traded a T-bird for it. Apparently that was some kind of last minute type of show & Geezer didn't have any of his gear (or stage clothes for that matter) with him & they ended up filming.

Pretty cool connection between 2 of my favorite bass players.

I don't believe that it was. I think it was a transitional '73 model w/ only some of the highly sought after pre-73 features.

We yapped about it in an earlier post...there's a pic of Glenn with the bass as well.
