Will be in Boston mid July, any great shops around the city?

Cambridge Music has some good stuff sometimes - there used to be one near Berklee, but now there's only the one near Central Square in Cambridge. Actually, that's where I picked up my '76 4001...
You could also check out Rock City Guitars in Somerville.
Those were always my two favorite stores. And don't be put off by the fact that neither one is "in" Boston - they're both easily accessible by public transportation (the "T")...
Oh, and I should also point out that above Cambridge Music is where John and Jim Mouradian work their magic, which includes being Rickenbacker experts!

You may want to pop yer head in Guitar Center if you can put up with the goofy sales people with the"backstage pass" nametags. Be sure to check out the Rickenfaker 325 there trying to pass off as original for $850.00! Their tag prices are usually way off but somtimes you find a score. Their lack of knowlege can be your gain.
One on Commonwelth ave. in Boston, and one in Natick outside of Boston.

I got my white 2030 from the GC on Comm ave for $250 during a 4th of July sale. It was listed as the Rickenbacker Gumby model.
Don't bother with Daddy's Junky Music on Mass ave, across the street from Berklee College of Music. Their name describes exactly what they have. Try Mr. Music on Harvard ave in Allston. http://www.coolguitars.com/

I bought my '75 4001 from Daddy's Junky Music in Nashua NH but I agree with Erik, the name says it all.
Also as a walk in (I remember the date- Nov. 4, 1997) I bought my '97 4003 FG, # V0 5106. Yes, they used to be good Rick dealers but I recently saw an Antigua '78 Jazz Bass going for $1600. Yikes.
