Rickenbacker Ace Amp

Post by bloozegit »

Hi guys,

I just got myself the abovementioned amp and would like to know more about it. It's got 6X5GT, 6SJ7 and 6V6 tubes, one each. A single volume knob turns it on and off, with inputs for 2 instruments. It has an unmarked 8" speaker and the cabinet is covered with some brown tolex-like material. The coolest part is the grill cloth, which has a Hawaii scene emblazoned on it.

The model it resembles most closely would be perhaps the M8, but the tube complement and the cabinet design aren't the same. Can any of you shed some light?

Victor,
I don't claim any expertice about Rickenbacher amps, but Rickenbacher made a Bakelite lap steel model called the "Ace" from "48-"53. It was a student model and many of the student models had amplifiers with the same model name. Yours is probably one of those. Below is a link to an "Ace" lap steel. They were also made in brown, white and red. Please post a photo. I'd love to see what it looks like.
