360-12 toaster pickup height adjustment??

Post by leadpaul »

New member here--my first post! I recently replaced the high-gain pickups on my 360-12 with new reissue toasters. I've looked everywhere for specs on what distance should be allowed between the pickup and strings but can't find anything on this subject. What's the optimum setup for height adjustment?? Thanks!!

The Bridge pickup needs to be closer to the strings than th eneck pickup .

How to adjust them;

Press ALL of the strings down at the last fret ,
place #1 phillips headed screw driver in the other hand , raise the treble side until the string is 1/16" from the cover.
Switch to the bass side , you need to be plugged in to do this .........

Set the bass side , so the the volume difference is the SAME when you hit either the High E or the low E .

The string ends up about 1/8" away from the string ....this also depends on how you set your amp .

The neck pickup is trickier .. you need to set the treble side first ...match the volume of the bridge pickup treble side.

Then match the bass side ...Then flick the switch back and forth to make certain this is correct .

Their is NO optimum height ...this is preference.
Myself I like to have the bridge pickup jammed up to the strings and the neck lower to get a smoother tone when I don't need that BYRDS tone /attack .

Because of strin movement, the bridge pickup gets less of it and that requires the neck pickup to be lower on any guitar where the pickups are identical types.

Seymour Duncan makes neck and bridge pickups , so that they can be set exactly the same distance from the strings and get the same response .

Rick just makes one pickup and it gets used in both locations .
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
