Since I can now intonate the bass it sounds better in the end; before, I could not get any of the saddles back far enough to properly intonate the strings.
Some may say that intonation is not important on a fretless but I don't agree with that.
Yes an un-intonated fretless will drive you nuts, saying that I have owned two 4001FL's and have never had a problem intonating either one. In fact I have never had a problem intonating any Ric except one which was a 98, my E string was a little flat and I've owned more than 20. I've had to set up a few properly to get them intonated but I've heard so many crazy stories here about these terrible unintonatable tailpieces, it's amazing. I think you guys are all nuts!
