An Instrument Stand That Doesn't Hurt the Finish?

Does anyone know of one that's known to be good to a Rick's finish?

I read a thread in "General", where Mark Arnquist wrote of seeing, I believe, a Desert Gold 330 at his neighborhood GC, and described a guitar stand that sounds like my Ultimate "Genesis" stand that I bought specifically for my incoming C64, and went on to say the stand was EATING (Caps by MDA) the finish.

That leaves me a bit concerned; do I have any good choices?

I have two stands that are 'A' frames ...they hold either acoustics or electrics ...they seem to be okay as far as NOT eating finish .

I have guitars with ;

Nitro Cellulouse lacquer
Catylized lacquer
Acrylic lacquer
Acrylic Enamel
Acrylic Urethane (three different brands)
Polyester

The stands have NOT reacted yet and I have had them for over a year.

Garry: I have never known a stand with surgical rubber tubing that ruined the finish on a guitar.

I have some stands that I haven't used in a while... I've only recently begun aquiring good-quality guitars and they're staying in the cases when not in use so far. But I'm planning to take the existing stands, and wrap black cotton fabric over the rubber parts. A couple of layers sealed with hot glue on a seam that won't touch the guitar. It won't be real pretty if you look at it closely, but the black fabric will probably make the stand more invisible on stage, rather than the beige rubber that's over the black metal tubing.

I hang some of my basses on the wall with standard lawn tool hangers with a black rubber coating on them. These too eat finish, I hung my 1992 Jetglo 4003 on one and let it sit for a while. The finish melted just a tiny bit where the neck touched the plastic coating. I tried to buff it out the best I could, but a little mark remains. I now hang all guitars with a cloth covering the plasic coating on all hangers or tube stands... I have a couple K&M brand A-frame guitar stands, and I have had good luck with them as well.
