Another silly question...

Post by syncop8r »

Are the standard pickups in a 4003 the same as each other, just wearing different clothes?
If I really wanted to, could a neck pickup be used in the bridge position and sound the same as the normal bridge pickup did? Can a bridge pickup be stripped down and then mounted in the same way as the neck one, if I had the parts?

Sounds silly I know, but I have constructed a pickguard into which both pickups are mounted, and have done away with the whole chrome cover job. It looks really good, or so I think (although a bit Fenderized) and I find it a lot easier to play... its just difficult reassembling the bridge pickup screws and springs and spacers and stuff, and I can't get it as low as I want, and the height screws stick out (I don't want to cut them and I can't replace them here).
It would be easier having another neck pickup there, also it would have that lovely wee bit of chrome around it.
mmm...sacrilicious

With a guard the bridge pickup will not attain the height needed .

The coils are more than likely still the same specs ....identical , and would work , just the height issue would hold you back .
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
