This is a great site to learn Chris Squire bass lines. I think Miguel does a great job.

Yeah, I remember this guy and his site. It's been over a year since I last tried to access it. I'm glad it's back. Miguel is fantastic. I wonder, is he Portuguese? I could be wrong, but the background to his pictures sure does look familiar.

Speaking of Fish Out of Water, I'm listening to "Silently Falling" from that album right this instant - the bass solo just finished!

Some incredible bass sounds on this album. Some of it sounds like distorted bass through a leslie. I also picked up John Anderson's solo album, Olias of Sunhillow recently - these are definitely two of my favorite Yes solo albums.

There was a cool video done for 'Hold Out Your Hand' with Bruford drumming...don't remember who else was in the band...lots of faces lit from underneath as I recall. Very Euro-delic...

Squire's playing a beautiful FG 4001S in it, Patrick Moraz is in it too if I remember correctly.

Does anybody know what basses Chris used on that album besides of his Rick? I'm hearing an 8-string on "Safe (Canon Song)" and "Lucky Seven" sounds like he used the Fender Jazz.

The 8 stringer is a RIC 4008, as I recall the first one off the line.

FWIW according to Entwistle's book, Ric made two solid-body 8-strings with the 4005/8 headstock, one for him and one for Chris.

Yeah, I meant that bass too. The white one with the wavey headstock, right? Wonder if Chris still has it...
How many of those were actually made? Entwistle got one too but those are all I've seen.

The Squire bass is in California I believe. I still wished I'd have made a pitch for Entwistle's one at Southeby's. At just over $7K it really was good value for a one of two proto, with that provenance.
