Chris Squire with a Rick acoustic

Post by scottpro1969 »

I was just watching an old VHS of 'YesYears'....this may have been brought up before but they were showing an acoustic version of Long Distance Runaround, probably a show from the early 70's....anyway, Chris is playing a Rick acoustic!!! Didn't see that before.

That acoustic is pretty interesting, too. It has a magnetic pickup hiding under the end of the fingerboard. It's actually inside the guitar, under the wood.

It's my understanding that Steve Howe has this guitar today.

I think the show is from Queenspark 1975, they did that and some other tune acoustically with Chris playing the Rickenbacker Acoustic guitar.

Yeah, this is from May 10, 1975 at QPR in London. I love that acoustic version of Long Distance Runaround - very wistful.

No, it's a 6 string acoustic from what I can tell. The video is really blurry and I just saw the outline of the TRC to see that it was a Rick. I'll take a digital pic of it. I'll need the assistance from someone here to resize it to fit the forum. Anyone??

Looks like a Martin headstock from that shot. Pretty cool though.

Scott, thanks for the pic. It clearly shows a rare Rickenbacker acoustic.

It looks like the tailpiece on it is pretty big.

That's cool..I believe it's the only Rickenbacker flat-top I've ever seen from the 70's....
