Dear Rick Luthier,
I was planning of buying a Fireglo 370 in a few months with Vintage pickups on it. I love Ricks but I would like to have just a little more bottom end because I play Blues-style guitar. I thought about installing a Patent Applied For Humbucker (i.e. John Fogerty) but I don't want to ruin the looks of the guitar or mess up the exsisting electronics. Therefore, I would like to put a Rick 14 Ohm Humbucker in the bridge position later on. How do you wire the 5th knob to turn it into a volume pot? I have heard several folks say that this is what I should do if I did opt for this. This will be a working guitar, not a collector's piece.

Let me make myself a little more clear on one of my questions: how do you wire the 5th knob so it will be the Volume control pot for the middle pickup when I install the Humbucker? Will any of my modifications void the warranty of the guitar?

If you understand schematics , then you can modify the ones the the Rickenbacker web site .

I have not posted specific schematic nor pictoral drawings here as it seems they might be difficult to read .

This is a fairly easy circuit to do .

The 'trick' is do you have the dual jacks or the rick-o-sound jacks .

If I had the time I would draw this out for you , but I barely have time to type this !!!!!

My work load is extremely heavy and I am behind on several project for Rick customers ... I will do what I can .
I may have this on a disc ... I'll check . I can email it to you if I do.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!

Thank you Mark! I will try to figure out the Rick Site Schematics. My dad can help me if I have problems because he is a master electrician electrician and he has helped me do some other repairs on another guitar I own. I will try to get the necessary parts for the operation. I'll come to you if I have any futher questions---but don't sweat it right now! Thank you once again!!!

Stephen: I have carried out the wiring that you have mentioned and it is very easy. I will not post a schematic but rather an explanation that I think is quite straight forward. It certainly worked well for me. You will find it on the Rickenbacker Registration Page. Try here. The best of luck to you in this modification.
