I do not think this type of format will take over in the future, the show I went to was well attended, but one wonders how long such performers will actually want to do this type of tour. Essentially two of the acts on this tour could be classed as solo performers, Dave Berry and Brian Poole, equally Gerry Marsden could be classed as a solo artist as he is the main draw when billed as Gerry and the Pacemakers, same with Mike Pender now.

I am still of the view that any forthcoming package tours will revert to the traditional format. But maybe based on economic principles one band and five name singers is more financially rewarding to all concerned.

Yes there was a CD on sale at the show, bit pricey at £18 but my interest would purely be in the numbers peformed by MP that I have not heard him perform before, I will comment on CD later I have never been fond of "Live " type CD's

Roy: The information that I have received is that this CD was recorded in the studio prior to the tour. Perhaps I should stand corrected on this statement. Should you be able to confirm this please let me know.

Roy: By the way, in reading your article about the Reelin' and a Rockin' 2002 Tour, I found Mike's "snake" jacket to be much better looking in the photo you took of him than I might have expected. It is a little "out there" though, I agree with you.

On reflection. I was probably wrong about the jacket, it just didn't seem to the image of Mike that I have over the years become accustomed to.

You have to give him one thing though, for someone who turned 60 just two weeks prior to this photo, he looks great, not many at 60 could get the "Jacket" on, let alone wear it.

Roy: He probably should have sung "Hey Little Cobra", "Under My Skin" or perhaps "Snake Rattle and Roll."

The Reelin' and Rocking Tour has apparently been such a success that although the tour finished at end of April, a further 17 dates will take place between July 21 to Sept 1 and a tour of Ireland, another 5 dates, will take place between Oct 17 and 22nd.

IF you are unsure of seeing this show refer to the reviews posted on this site

Roy: From the reviews that have been written of this tour, I am not at all surprised about the additional venues. I suspect that this type of format will become more popular based on the economic factor for the artists and the opportunity for fans to see many groups rather than one. I wonder whether this type of tour will spell the demise of the groups assosicated with each of the headline artists? Your thoughts?

FINALLY GOT ROUND TO CATCHING THIS TOUR, WHICH IS APPEARING AT MY "LOCAL" DURING THE SUMMER,DAVE DEE HAS REPLACED MIKE D'ABO,AND REALLY GOT THE AUDIENCES' ATTENTION (WHIP AND ALL) HE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO WORK AN AUDIENCE..ESPECIALLY THE LADIES ON THE FRONT ROW,I ENJOYED WATCHING HIS INCREASINGLY BRIGHT(A KIND WAY OF PUTTING IT)DISPLAY OF SHIRTS. A BIT DISSAPOINTED WITH BRIAN POOLE BUT AS I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT HIM I CAN'T SAY IF HIS VOICE HAS LASTED, MAYBE ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS SEEN THE SHOW CAN TELL ME.THE CHOICE OF SONGS WAS SPOT ON FOR ME ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ALL CAME ON AT THE END,AS FOR THE INFAMOUS JACKET? IF NO ONE HAD SAID ANYTHING I WOULDN'T HAVE NOTICED, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO DEES' OPENING OUTFIT, IT WAS RED WITH LARGE METAL EDGED HOLES IN IT.

Perhaps the jacket wasn't "Infamous " after all. On reflection perhaps I have been so used over the last four decades to seeing Mike in the "Suited" look, apart from a period in the late seventies when they ditched the suits with release of Sire material, that it came as a shock perhaps. At the endof the dayit is the "Voice2 I have loved over the years not what he wears. Glad you liked the show.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WORE WHEN YOU SAW HIM, BUT WHEN HE DID HIS SEARCHERS' NUMBERS I THOUGHT HE LOOKED VERY SMART IN A DARK SUIT AND TIE WHICH HAD A SMALL YELLOW PATTERN ON IT YOU DIDN'T SAY IF BRIAN POOLES' VOICE HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME, ALTHOUGH HIS SONG "SOMEONE" IS BEAUTIFUL,I HADN'T REALLY LISTENED TO THE WORDS UNTIL THAT NIGHT, I THINK HE SAID BUDDY HOLLY GAVE IT TO HIM,DID BUDDY HOLLY EVER RECORD IT? ALSO DID HE
WRITE IT?

I found that tale to be a bit of a query, Buddy Holly died in 1959, Brian Poole released that song in 64, also Buddy Holly to best of my knowledge only visited England once in 58 I think.

So when Brian Poole met Buddy Holly is a bit of a wonder????

His voice still sounds in my view same as it did in the Sixties and Someone Someone is probably the best song he did. I actually liked his first ever release called Twist Little Sister though.

Another fodd for thought, Dick Rowe at Decca turned down The Beatles and signed up Brian Poole instead.

I take Mike did not wear the, what I called Snakeskin Jacket then.

Yes Roy, one has to wonder about the decision made by Decca. Dick Rowe must have kicked himself for years. I guess guitar groups weren't quite out, were they!

Marie: Outside of his handsome attire, how did you rate Mike Pender's performance? Please give us the highs and lows and how Mike compared to the others who performed.
