Covering The Basses

Post by admin »

OK bassists. I want to creat a section in which owners send in a few photos of their Rickenbacker bass along with some comments regarding its features and sound. It will have its home here.Your comments and photos would be most appreciated.

I have a 2000 model 4003 Sea Green bass. The photos listed on Peter's wonderful site here:

Mike Lewis's Seagreen 4003

I strung it up with some Pyramid Strings around March of 2001, and the strings are still holding up great! I play it through a 60 watt Ampeg BA-112. The only pedal I use is a Boss Bass EQ, and the tone is AWESOME. I play with some guys I met at work, and the blend between the vintage tone from the neck (high-gain) and the growl from the treble (also high-gain) cuts through fabulously through this setup. I rarely crank the volume past 3, and the bass can be heard beautifully. It goes without saying that the superb RIC tone sounds GREAT!

The playability is awesome. I've owned two other RIC basses in my life, and this is by far the best one I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The combination of the Pyramid Flats and the smooth-as-glass finish on the thin RIC neck makes this bass very fast action-wise.

And to top it off, it has, IMO, the greatest finish RIC has ever produced, the awesome SEA GREEN finish.

Well, that's my bass. As you can tell, I absolutely love it!

Well I think this is a GREAT idea Peter, and I'm glad you thought of it. Now I've got to go find a digital camera to take some pics of my basses!
