When was the raised-letter truss rod cover introduced?

Post by rickcrazy »

Hi again, everybody. I would like to know exactly when the raised-letter nameplate was introduced and whether any further modification (neck width, neck pickup moved away from neck, etc.) to the 4001 Bass took place at precisely that point in time, which I assume to be sometime in 1975.
A Rickenbacker bass is much like the Jaguar E car - perennially ultra-fashionable.

Sergio, speaking for the left-handed versions, I can say that I don't think they have ever had a raised logo. My '79 4001LH has the flat silk-screen on clear lucite logo.....I think for the rightys you are close to the mark, 1974-75...

I had a new 4001 that I bought in Feb.-Mar. of '74,and mine still had the silkscreened/flat nameplate.I think 'late '74 early '75 the raised ones came around.

I have a March 1976 4001 with raised letters and have seen 1975s with the flat ones. My guess would be that it happened at the same time as the pickup move (May 1975?).
Anyone???
