Why is it a scam? here are a few alarming signs:

1. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
2. One-day listing.
3. No PayPal.
4. "Before bidding please e-mail me at <snip> so i can aprove you to bid on my auction"

But...

5. 123 feedback seller.
6. He gives his email, AOL Messenger and Yahoo Messenger.

So... I have no idea. Why do you think it's a scam?

Kelly should complain to eBay. Anybody have an idea as to where the pic in the ad came from?

Total scam. Looks like this poor guy got his account hijacked.

Dude says no Paypal, but look at his feedback and click on the auctions that are still able to be viewed. He accepts Paypal on all. His location is listed as Fayetteville, NC but he's referring to some escrow service in the UK?

I regulary get emails, supposedly from ebay claiming that my account needs to be updated and I should click the link in the email and sign in with my user name and password to verify my account.

Most people by now know that these emails are a scam, but it makes me wonder how many pepole don't realise that....the fake sign-in page the scammers use looks genuine.....maybe this guy fell for this type of scam and now his account has been hijacked.

He probably answered a spoof mail.
All his other items were $5-6 so it could be a scam account, but I don't see why bother having 123 auctions first then.

I wonder, these scam people seem to be smart enough to steal your identity, yet they don't realise that if they put up an auction which attracts connoisseurs their 1 day auction with extreme low prices are suspicious as hell.

uhhhhhhhhhh....guys....
I am very wary of this for obvious reasons - but it might be legit. Luckily, I've never really liked the bulbous shape of 4005's and don't play much fretted stuff, so I don't really want one - but - I e-mailed the seller to inquire about bidding, just for grins, and to ask about the BIN price mentioned in the listing.

"Greetings,
I'm interested in bidding on the Rickenbacker bass. Your eBay listing also mentions a "Buy it Now" possibility. What is your Buy it now price? Could you perhaps give me the serial number of the bass? It should be written on the jack plate on the side where the cord plugs in. I would be paying using escrow.com.
thanks,
Todd Bradshaw
Madison, WI"

I got a reply back from Raul Ismas
"hello , thank you for writing me , yes i have a good buy it now price and we can start the transaction tight now with www.escrow.com . $2100 Shipping free and you will receive as a gift and a Magellan Device from me
Reply me asap..
Thank you"

I don't get the feeling that English is his native language and there is always the possibility that he just copied the other listing's text because it was easy. I also read through the escrow stuff and it sounds like he wouldn't get your money until you report that you have the bass in your hot little hands (and you can pay the escrow company with PayPal, credit cards, etc.)

Then out of curiosity I googled "Raul Islas". There are plenty of them, but this one was interesting. The guy is a musician from Mexico

At this point, it's almost 5:00 AM and I'm going to bed, but I'm really glad I don't want a 4005 because I'd really be sweating trying to figure out how safe pulling the trigger using the escrow would be.

I think both auctions(not Kelly's) are scams.

Who gives a gift when selling a 4005?

The escrow company probably steals your money and is untraceable.
