Do you remove your bridge cover?

Post by rkbsound »

I removed the bridge cover from my 335 a long time ago, as it was in the way. On my 360, it doesn't seem to be in the way unless I look at it...so it's probably a matter of time before that one goes, too. Anyone else remove theirs?

Anyone I've talked to about this, assuming they had the cover on the guitar to begin with, usually says they like it off, as it gets in the way if and when they want to mute/block the strings with the palm of their hand.I personally leave it on.It could be argued that it gets in the way of fast string changes as well....
One little tip if you Do remove the cover;
leave the 2 mounting screws secured in their holes after removing the cover, and you will always know where they are if you do reinstall
the cover.

My covers stay on. Definitely. Without the covers, the look of the Rickenbacker is cheapened. Looks like a ...gasp... Gibson.

I leave my bridge covers on because 1) I think it looks cooler that way and 2) I like the cover there as a "wall" for when I play backwards ebow.

Hey Rickenbacker Friends!

The covers didn't last five minutes on my 360/6 or 360/12. I mute the strings by resting the side of my palm (lightly!) on the bridge on all of my guitars. This technique requires a particularly light touch on tremolo equipped guitars.

I also file down the sharp edges on the bridge saddles with a Dremmel tool so that I do not cut my hand when I strum hard. I put the retaining screws for the covers back on the guitar so I would not lose them. Now, if I could just remember what I did with the covers...
