Hi All,

Two weeks ago I happened to stumble across a guitar I never thought I would see in real life, let alone have the opportunity to own. I've been waiting until the deal was closed and the guitar shipped before I could reveal my find.

It's a 1960 335F in Fireglo. I understand it's had one owner since new and remains in original condition with the original case. According to the Smith book, it's one of only six Fireglo 335F models ever produced out of a total production of 14 instruments. The serial number is one of the repeated 2V1XX numbers originally used in 1958. I really dig the transitional white pickguard & TRC cover mixed with cooker knobs and the newly-introduced blend knob.

At the moment it is in safe custody with my buddy in NJ....now I just have to work out how to get it home to Oz. I think a personal pickup is required, the timing of which may coincide with a Rickfest somewhere.

I'd also like to acknowledge how supportive my dear wife was of this expensive purchase.

I must go now...I have the washing, ironing, housework and gardening to do for the next 20 years!

Robert, yeah the vibrato is very cool. I can't believe it still has the original long vibrato arm too. Where would you ever find a replacement if it was missing, eh?

Howard, thanks for keeping it under your hat mate and thanks for sharing in my excitement. By the way, I've got a 610 Jetglo coming too!

I have advanced and chronic R.A.S. Unfortunately my 450 is now on it's way to the UK, my Les Paul copy is off to Sydney and my Fender '54 Custom Shop Strat is going to Perth, WA. But hey, the Rickenbacker tally now stands at eleven!

Graham, It was a case of making a decision on the spot, there and then, or forever having to regret not taking the plunge! I read an article once which said if you want an F model and ever have the opportunity to purchase it...just do it. From what I understand there was a long queue of potential buyers hoping the deal would fall over. Now if only Rickenbacker would consider a reissue F model for the 75th Anniversary we could all have one!

Wow is that a beauty or what? Love the finish AND no binding! This'd be almost one of a kind(Lefty? JW?). I've always wanted an F model. Doesn't matter what it cost, it'll always go up in value. Well done Darren, ya b*st*rd...

Gerry, thanks mate. It does have binding, but only on the neck, not on the body. Apparently the 330F and the 335F broke the standard rules for neck binding...normally featured on the deluxe 360 Models and above. I haven't forgotten the CD I promised you...as you can see I've been a busy boy!

What a beautiful guitar. The Esther Williams of Rickenbackers -curvy, grown-up, and gorgeous. Pure class.

Darren you lucky bugger. What a find. It would seem that you beat everyone to the finish line on that one. I suspect however, that you'll be doing the housework for years to come.
