New old stock is just that, once owned or used it becomes used but still an original piece, re-issue is a new piece made to look or sound like an original piece.

I paid high, but NOS is just another term for "it's gonna cost ya".

No, that's just used! NOS is something that's still in the original box, never opened, that has been lying around on a shelf somewhere ever since it was new.
That's why it's "new" old stock. Otherwise it's just used.
So a new old stock horseshoe is one that was sitting at the factory that was never used, but is an original old part and not a reissue.
I bought a NOS Gibson Sidewinder pickup once. Was packaged as if it had just come from the factory.... even though they hadn't made them in years. Was from some music store that had it ever since, and never sold it, and was going out of business.

You know there is another thread on the subject of the horseshoes....
I remember some salesman at the time the Bs came out stating that Rickenbacker had "found" some original parts....
The first generation of the v63s had magnetic shoes that
looked like the late 60s shoes but the bobbins were fiber and not PC board stuff like the bobbins from 68 to 72.
As for the Grover Tuners-
Wish I stepped up quick enough. They're great tuners IF you work out the POP-OFF feature. I usually drill and tap
for screws if the pins cannot be re-swedged.
