03 color guesses

Post by billikenn »

Well my guess is a blue trans finish, about the same tint as the burgandy is/was. So Transparent midnight blue. I base this -guess- on what little knowledge I have of RIC an dthe idea of not straying to far from normal but still having something special.
Plus I woudl really like that color!!!

Please let me hear what you think

Blue boy is my guess. My VOTE would be to KEEP FRIGGIN' BURGUNDY as a regular color.

Kenny,

I agree completely on keeping Burgandy. It meshes with the rosewood fretboard like a dream to my eyes. I also saw it on a 650C and it looked like a million bucks.

I'll go out on a limb and just say "purple" of some description.

I'd like to see a dark rich green. Along the lines of Fender's Sherwood Green Metallic.

Olympic White.

Hey, I still like Fender too! ;-)

But Autumnglo for the 300 series guitars would also be great.

The rich dark red autumnglo is just too cool, but the two-tone tobacco sunburst (early AG) as seen on several early 325 examples is clearly an oversight on the part of Rickenbacker. There were surely enough guitars of this color from the period to mandate it's inclusion in the 'C' series.
Show him the shirts, Adrian.

Which rich dark red autumnglo are you talking about? All the autumnglo's that I can recall seeing are variations of brown and gold bursts...
But I would vote for any variant of Autumnglo for next year's custom color... I anxiously await the announcement...

Gene,

If you have access to the Rittor book or go to Glen Lambert's '325 Connection' website there is a 325 prototype(I think it is #V87??) with a long body that is a reddish-autmnglo color, rather than the two-tone brown autumnglo. Rickenbacker started adding more red pigmant into the finish ca.1959, and eventually ended up with what is known as Fireglo.
Heck, let's just get RIC to do BOTH finishes!!!

I must be the only one that woudl be disappointed if it is autumglo. I think it is rather drab compared to the amazing look of this years burgandy - but then again Im new to RICs

Hey Lefty,
I went out and checked out Lambert's cool cool site, since I don't have a copy of the Rittor book(I have a buddy that owns one, where can I get a copy? They are harder to find than a mint '58 325!). And yes, I would be really on board with any of those old late 50's early 60's autumnglo finishes. I might have to order a 350v63 if Rickenbacker were to offer that finish for 2003!
One way or other, I'd be making a call to ole Mike and Jake in North Carolina!!!

Gene: those books are rare as hen's teeth. They really ARE just as hard to find as an old 325!!!(lol)

I really really think RIC should do some the '50's stuff again...a couple of guitars and even a 4000 bass..A COMBO 850....MAN it would be sweet.
