Editors

Post by red_rob »

If you haven't heard this band (based in Birmingham, UK) then I urge you to buy the album (The Back Room) immediately. I saw them on Jools Holland this weekend and went straight out and bought the record. It's brilliant.

The lead guitarist sports a jetglo 620 which sings out a series of distorted delay-drenched patterns while the bass player uses a jetglo 4001 (4003?).

Great music - dark, atmospheric but with attitude and energy too.

Great stuff. I just hear from then a couple of weeks ago, and liked his music.

The cd has some nice pictures with the twin jetglo guitar and bass.

Their web is at http://www.editorsofficial.com/.
There is a photo section

Saw Editors at the Barfly in Camden last night. Absolutely brilliant. Jetglo 620 used all the way through. He seems to have a humbucker in the bridge too.

On a side note, there were 2 support bands last night. The first had 2 guitarists, both used telecasters. They broke 3 strings and were constantly tuning their guitars mid set. The next band used a Gibson and a telecaster and broke 2 strings and the telecaster guy was forever re-tuning his guitar.

Editors as you know use a Ric 620 (lead) and a telecaster (singer). The lead guy with his ric barely even touched the tuning heads all night. The singer was forever tuning and switching between two identical telecasters.

Gallery still not working but the videos show Jetglo beauty alright. Have a look at "bullets" in particular.

You US guys should take a look too because Editors are about to become the biggest band in the UK. They'll probably be headlining all the summer festivals this year.

That 620 really sings.
Thanks for posting the links, Rob - never heard of them before today. They look like an excellent band to see live. I'll keep an eye out for any future Toronto dates.
