Maybe some of those original three hundred series Capris, with the autumnglo finish. And I'd STILL like to see a 4001v63 with binding, wide inlays, and headstock wings

I find that I like the finishes that allow some of the wood and wood grain to show thru -- i.e. Mapleglo, Fireglo, Burgundy, autumnglo....
I'd like to see some kind of 'burst be the color of 2003. Anyone else with me on this?

Gene,
I'm with you.
Being able to see the woodgrain thru a "burst" finishes makes for "eye candies".(I however don't find Mapleglo appealing to me, but it's only personal taste.)
I'd be the 1st one to place an order if RIC makes a 400x bass in "Factory Shaded Green"(Green Apple Burst).

I dont really like shaded green, and plus if they were to make that, it would destroy the mystique of the 3 known real ones kinda...

Wood grain through a translucent finish is awesome especially on quilted maple - but Im not a big burst finish person...

Gene-- I'm with you on the burst idea; azureglo or autumnglo are still my top choices.

Paul-- Those green shaded Rics look exceptionally nice. Somewhat reminiscent of the "Apple corp." look on The Beatles' later album labels. Hey!, what a promotional tie-in THAT would be! Especially on a 4000 series bass. "McCartney Apple Green". ;-)

I remember seeing a green 4003 a few years ago. It looked pretty nice. I think a canary yellow (or yellow of some kind) would be cool.

Jeffery, Right On.
(Mr. Hall should read your last post.)
The green shaded woodgrain simulates nicely the brush strokes in green tinted traditional Chinese black and white nature paintings.
Ah, the more I imagine it, the more I want a real thing.

FYI -

Ric has updated their website somewhat and in the "Special Options" section, they have finally replaced the Desert Gold finish with the Burgandy, however, it does indeed state that this colour will no longer be used after Dec. 31, 2002.

I agree completely.

Starting next year, it would be a welcome change to most of us if say on December 1st, we find out the new colour for the next year. This would give us enough time to decide between the two "one year only colours" or any other model announcements made at that time.

I thought it was wierd to update the limted color the last month of the year. Maybe Ric's webmaster has been out to lunch quite a bit!

RIC has generally waited until the January NAMM show to announce the year's limited color.

only a few short days left til it is unveiled.

Unfortunatly I think it is going to be a solid bronze/brown color. Not very stylish.Too bad I wasnt a RIC lover a year ago, I probably would have saved to get a burgandy 660/12. Guess Ill just have to get a normal color, wait a year, or look for a used one..

JP

Im still wishin for a dark translucent blue, or a burnt orange color...

Trans black would be cool, so I guess that's automatically ruled out. ¦-Þ
