Scott, I use D'Addario 160's (long). I still end up cutting a little off, but the G string needs to be long.
Speaking of the Thunderbird....a VERY good friend of mine (the GREAT guitar player in my band..) did some adhesion testing on the Ford Thunderbird when it came out...he was going thru some stuff the other day, throwing out things, when lo and behold, he ran across THIS...a genuine, unstuck, Thunderbird logo from the Ford.
So....he HAD to give it to me, and it just HAD to decorate my white 'Bird.
Now there will be no doubt as to what it is!

Sean, I think the studio was only introduced this year, and I haven't seen many of them around, so I would think this is an older 'Bird. Especially with the chromed-out PU's.

someone here needs to sell me their t-bird. all of the ones i am finding on ebay and elsewhere seemed to have neck and headstock repairs.

The green T'Bird is either a '64 or '65, I don't remember which. The tuning keys I sold him were NOS '60s keys so he was really grateful to get them from me, as it completed his restoration.

The owner of this bass also found a bridge (aftermarket) that offers a greater range of adjustment; he said the original bridge was marginal and he could not get the bass to intonate properly with it.

Shouldn't that one have the "ashtray" cover over that pickup?

I like that bridge, I've seen those, they fit into the original stud holes also.
