But Rikk you gotta remember that if it was'nt for AMF Harley Davidson would no longer exist . AMF Harleys remind of late 70's Fenders Except i think late 70's Fenders were far bigger stool samples than AMF Harleys lol

Looks ok to me. Like a Fender P-bass with a twist. In fact it looks much better than 3000 Series Ric basses, with that hideous pickguard.

Congrats on your purchase. Can't go wrong with a 4003 Fireglo... It's a classic.

Rickenbacker's are like Corvettes Sleek, sexy, well built,

Ive had over ten corvettes,the last being a 2000 C5 convertible when I sold it had 225,000 miles on it.
Tune ups, oil changes and a battery thats it,it still had the original serpentine belt,the most reliable care Ive ever owned and I buy and sell cars for a living.
Ive owned just about everything.

I wouldn't own another new Chrysler or a Ford car or truck.

The Chrysler 300m I'm driving now has about 150,000 miles on it now but Ive replaced everything on the damn thing.

Its front wheel drive but horrible in the snow 1000 times worse then the vette in the snow no joke.

I dont want to get into the Ford suvs and 150s and 250s Ive owned with major brake problems....

Hi Ken, how did you put 225,000 miles on a vette? That has to be some kind of record. It's good to hear you had so little trouble with her. I've got a 2000 C5 coupe with 4000 on her. She is one of the nicest cars I've ever owned. I'm a wuss about driving her in **** weather. However, my 2000 pick up only has 46,000 on it. She is the bassmobile. Vette is tough for amp/bass transport.

J gary,the LS1 will run forever it holds the 24hr endurance record at Le mans,you cant hurt that motor as long as you change the oil every 3-4k w/mobile 1 the car for that matter is built like a tank.

As for the 225,000 that car went everywhere year around. when I sold it,it still ran strong,did not leak or burn oil at all and still got 28-30 miles per gallon on the highway,no creaks rattles....

I might get another one just for a daily driver.

If I found one for sale with over 100,000 on it ,it would not discourage me from buying it one bit.

I've got a '99 Pontiac Formula WS6 (ram-air), it's my baby. I've only got about 30K on it since I only drive it on nice days. Like Ken says, the LS1 is an awesome powerplant.

I'm sensing a Rick/car guy DNA thing here.

Ken, people think I'm on acid when I tell them how easy a C5 is on gas. She seems to always deliver over 20mpg. However I ride the granny lane most of the time.

Rob, I drove a buddy's WS6, 6 speed, a wonderful car. I think she felt more like a muscle car than my C5. I would equate the WS6 more with the Z06.

Oh oh, I think I hear the hyjack alarm, sorry gentlemen.

I was wondering about Rics being "Mercedes-Benz of basses" . . . considering Mercedes cars are NOTORIOUS for their unreliability . . . the only way you could get more unreliable would be to buy an old Triumph or some other British car . . . I like the Corvette reference: well-built (the ONLY Chevrolet these days that is . . .), reliable (once again, the only Chevy today . . .), good-looking (yet again, the only one), and faster and more fun than anything else in that price range, except maybe a BMW M3 . . .

And regarding the comment about the Corvette being good in snow . . . I read an article somewhere about a year ago that found that a brand new, stock Corvette handled better on rocky/dirt/unpaved/gravel/mud roads than several SUVs designed SPECIFICALLY to move on terrain like that.

Robert I totally agree.

The Corvette like Rickenbacker is an American Icon,not everyone has one, a little pricey but a great bang for your buck,Both classics in every sense of the word.

As for the vettes handling in wet or snow or mud.... a superb suspension a perfectly balanced car w/trans axle in the rear for weight distribution,a true world class car.

The new Z06 Corvette[with its 427ci 500hp small block] is the fastest production car the world has ever seen! Putting even the Viper to shame!

A calculated 11 sec. quarter mile and over 200 mile an hour top speed! w/air conditioning.

The Forward Look Fin is much like the Sweeping Crescent
cutaway: flashy, bold, and grand.
