Hey Guy's I'm still at it...! Just got talked into doing some Rush we are doing three from Moving Pictures and perhaps some more. I always like Cinderella Man too. But I need the synth stuff to do it right and I have always wanted sub pedals anyway. I am going to take the plunge and buy the best. By the way I got talked into doing Rush because I learned Red Barchetta and it went over real well. So it did not take much to convince me. Geddy Lee never really got the respect as a bass player that he should have in those "Best bass player" polls! His stuff is very complicated at times but it is almost always fun to play! He is the Master at writing "A HOOK" that hold an audience!
Anyway ...........Yeah I'll keep watching the bay. missed the last bunch I guess.
Dave
Never did get used to that fretless......I am struggling with it for the one song I need it on. Great Bass....It's my limitations that keep it from shinning!
How's the Doubleneck?? From what I gather you must have a Museum collection by now.
good to hear from ya Scott

I know you are looking for a Taurus II (those are Taurus 1's listed above...) but this sounds like something worth checking out...

Thanks Guy's .. Yeah Steve I did see these there is a Taurus 2 on there now as well. I also have email the guy with the home made set HE has been selling these consistantly for a year or so now through ebay. His feedback is real good. But I can't get him to tell me #1 if I will have the same great old Synth sounds to choose from and #2 how this set up works? I mean I am wondering if I have to bend down and reset this thing for each song? Also Does this give me the great Sub Bass like the old Moogs did? He is bad with the emails and he won't get my bid if he can't answer a few simple questions for me.
Ya know? Anyway Thanks guy's I figured it was a long shot to ask for one of these in here? There are probably more of you looking for a set like me than there are selling.

You might be better off with a midi foot controller and a rack synth. Taurus' were great in their day, but they drift, and you have to reset the controls all the time, which is a PITA.
I use a Roland PK-5 with (among other things) an Access Virus. I'm not doing Rush covers mind you, but this combo allows some pretty fat synth sounds.

The band I play in does Rush, and I've used the MIDI controllers with great success, the Korg MPK-130 and the Roland PK-5 (which I use now...) Rush has used both thru the post-Taurus years, but they're back on the Korgs for the moment. I use mine linked up to a JV-1010 module which has gobs of different sounds, and have been pleased with it for years.
To do it REALLY right, ya gotta get your guitar player a set too, LOL..Alex is just as busy as Geddy in that respect.

My TII set is rock solid with both the pitch and tuning. I also have a set of "MIDI STEPS" foot pedals, that control and play my keyboards. The problem with the TII is if you want to change the sound. There are no presets. Moog had a cardboard insert that you could mark with a pen, and place the card on top of the knob. This still takes time. No beating the TII sound however.

Well now this is interesting..... I have a few guy's here that actually have experience with solving the problems I am having in trying to add the old synth sounds and sub bass to my bass guitar playing and vocals.
Dave how hard exactly is it to change...... lets say.....from a dialed up Rush sound to Sub Bass. ??? Could I connect longer cables to and from the pedals so I could send the control unit over to the sound man and let him change these for me???? And if I got used to the dials do you think I could change the sounds quickly enough in between songs??? Or would this be a long shot. I really like the idea of one of these old units!
And John. I need to know exactly what units you are running now and or any other suggestions as to what synths might be best for me to do this right on stage. Thanks guy's I really want to do this right. These units are not cheap and I really want to be able to put out some real quality music and effects from my side of the stage. without buying and selling five different units till I get it right.
