Was the drummer really a female? Sure looks like a guy...

She was a female and a great singer. Their big hit was "Have I the Right"

Check out the burns on those guys.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Very long-horny.

'Have I The Right' owes its unique sound to Joe Meek's and his insanity. What started out as a Dave Clark Five-style stomper got the total Joe 'Telstar' Meek treatment of odd studio effects. As the chart toppers dried up and life became too much for him, he became reclusive and delusional. He thought his apartment/studio was bugged so that others could steal his techniques. He stopped talking and wrote out messages on scraps of paper that he consequently burned. After killing his landlady with a shotgun blast in 1967, he turned the gun on himself. A very sad story about a very odd man. He was the British equivalent of Phil Spector.

Joe Meek was fantabulous...

Isn't that the young Austin Powers about to clobber her across the right ear?

Dane: I've always assumed that Peter Asher (from Peter and Gordon) was the model for Austin Powers. Despite Peter's goonie appearance, his sister Jane was cute enough to snag Paul McCartney for a few years.
