Binding!

Post by kennyhowes »

Anyone here ever replaced binding on a Ric? What size binding did you use? Any special tricks? What about the slash-hole binding?

I thank you in advance from rainy Nawlinz.

Yes.Size of binding depends on a couple of details; Are you talking a] neck binding? b] Single layer white or black body binding? or c] replacing both outer white and inner checkered bindings? I do not know if Rick will still sell raw binding material, but I have bought it from them in the last 12 years.Neck binding and soundhole binding are the same size and thickness.
Rebinding a soundhole, or putting binding on a soundhole that did not previously have it is a major pain, but can be done.A final note; every Rick binding job I have ever done was on an instrument that was already in need of total refinishing.Time and patience is a Must for doing this.

Now I am having trouble finding the right size binding. Just the white, which would go on the neck and the slash soundhole. Recomendations?
