The Emporor

Post by rob »

As most of us know, the guy on Ebay known as emporor26, "the Emporor", is quite an intersting guy.
Right now, he has a bid on one of my auctions. I wonder how is he as a buyer? Anyone here have any experience selling to him? Just curious since he is currently the high bidder on my auction.

Robert, I have dealt with him a number of years ago, but I was the buyer, he was the seller. I didn't have any problems, if that helps.

Rob, you'll find a number of threads dealing with him if you use this Forum's "Search" feature.

If you wish, I can forward you some of his hate-filled rants to yours truly.

I would not give him the time of day if I was selling wristwatches on a street corner.

Tell him there's an upcharge of $10,000 for shipping to hate mongers.

I've already read some of those rants that JH sent me a few months back last year.

I can't wait to see if he chooses to turn around and re-sell my item on Ebay (for a little profit, of course), and puts those Godzilla creatures next to it. I actually think those Godzilla pictures are quite funny!

Those "funny" Godzilla pictures actually are part of his hate profile BTW.

Not willin' to start an argument... but... we all know he's not a very good guy (to be "politically correct", so to speak), but is he a bad buyer/seller?

if you don't mind getting emails containing pictures of poison gas canisters from nazi death camps and having him tell you it is too bad that Hitler didn't kill your ancestors because then you wouldn't exist ... if you want to get emails like that then go ahead and do business with him ...

It's beyond that. Doesn't anyone remember the Pete Townshend edition that he misrepresented to another buyer (not a Forum member)? The buyer then sold it on eBay when he was unable to verify the guitar's authenticity, making it plain that the guitar had been misrepresented to him by the Emperor, and hoping to recover at least part of his cost.

The Emperor is a sociopath. When it benefits him to screw somebody to further his own agendas, he will, without pause.

I don't doubt anybody's veracity, i'm just wondering: how on Earth, all details given, could he become a power seller with over 90% positive feedback?! I mean, perhaps Robert will be the lucky one - if the guy in question is not reading this thread at the moment...

Ebay protects power sellers...their complaint procedure is complex and Byzantine and tends to protect the seller, making it tough for a buyer to get through and be heard. In the case of the Townshend, he walked the line between revealing that the guitar was a fake and claiming it was 100% original, but hints can be used to play a punter against his own greed, and Emp did just that. He does get abusive with buyers who whine or try to back out, as his feedback will show.

Paul: Not meaning to defend the Emperor, but did anyone ever figure out definitely whether the Townshend was fake? I watched the resell auction, and there were lots of questions being asked. It appeared to me that the guitar probably was genuine, but sold at a relatively low price because of the authenticity questions raised by the seller (to his credit).

I'd cancel his bid, knowing what I know about him. He is on my blocked list.

Not willin' to cause waves (yup... now, Sheena, be true to yourself: how many times did you type this phrase already?!)... it seems like this guy gets too much attention here... which, IMHO, he doesn't deserve...
Ebay protects power sellers... yep, to some extent, it might be fair. On the other hand, judging by what i read here, people often do not trust the bay members with low feedback. Especially when they are selling or bidding on megabuck items. Might be also fair, since - oh well, you can start with $10-$15 items and if you get all positive feedback, which also means trust to some extent, it would be easier for you to move further...
